Math Evaluations

Our Process
Our process begins by connecting and learning more about your student. After, you and Learning a la Carte will schedule a day and time day and time for the math assessment to take place. Payment is required in advance and guarantees the spot is reserved.
Each evaluation typically takes between 1-2 hours to complete. During the evaluation, Learning a la Carte will observe and take notes on the student’s mathematical strategies, test-taking strategies, and overall understanding of each concept.
After the evaluation, Learning a la Carte will set up a time to review the results and discuss the next steps for instruction.
If your family chooses to work with one of our tutors, Learning a la Carte will set up a time to review and discuss the results and next steps for instruction with the tutor as well.
Families interested in setting up a math evaluation should complete the form on the registration page. You can expect a response within 24-48 hours.

Why?
Diagnostic evaluations are used to help educators identify what students know and what specific skills need to be addressed. Identifying and targeting academic gaps early is critical to a student’s success. Data collected from these evaluations allows your family to get a snapshot of your student’s present levels and allows Learning a la Carte to target and fill the gaps as quickly as possible.

Evaluations
The ADAM K-7 (Evaluation of Mathematics), DOMA Pre-Algebra, or DOMA Algebra will be administered depending on the grade level of your student. All are comprehensive, diagnostic evaluations of mathematics and thoroughly assess a student’s complete mathematical understanding to provide a comprehensive picture of their strengths and weaknesses. The evaluations are aligned with NCTM’s (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) content strands. Each evaluation typically takes between 1-2 hours to complete. Below you will find information about what areas of math are assessed on each evaluation.
